CORP. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Inspired by its tenth year anniversary, Canon Marketing Philippines spearheaded and participated in various social and cultural activities to make a difference in our country by addressing the needs and issues of local communities in 2007.

In a country like the Philippines, support from the private sector is very much needed for social development.  The company’s efforts not just provide funding or sponsorship of such projects but also encourages employee volunteerism for more genuine involvement and empathy for these causes.

In 2008, Canon continues to participate in more projects under the guidance of its corporate philosophy of Kyosei which means “living and working for the common good”.  The company aims to fulfill its social responsibilities as a good corporate citizen by contributing solutions to various social problems.  Canon will carry on as a company that garners the trust and respect of the Filipino nationwide.

For more information or photos on these projects, you may contact the Corporate Strategy group through email at info@canon.com.ph

Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief

Gawad Kalinga
Gawad Kalinga (GK) translated in English means to “to give care”, and it is an alternative solution to the blatant problem of poverty not just in the Philippines but in the world. GK’s vision for the Philippines is a slum-free, squatter-free nation through a simple strategy of providing land for the landless, homes for the homeless, food for the hungry and as a result providing dignity and peace for every Filipino.

Together with its partners, Gawad Kalinga is now in the process of transforming poverty stricken areas with the goal of building 700,000 homes in 7,000 in 7 years (2003-2010).

Canon has committed to sponsoring the Mandaluyong build site that covers ten (10) homes in line with our 10th year anniversary.

Manila Zoo Aviary
Canon has sponsored the rehabilitation of the bird enclosure in the Manila Zoo.  This is in the effort to assist in the education of the public towards animals and nature. This project was kicked off with an event at the Manila Zoo with the Pinoy Photography Organization (PIPHO) who were treated with fun activities and refreshments for one whole day last 12 April 2008, Saturday.  Canon employees were also given the same opportunity and experience, along with their families and friends.

Earth Hour 08
Canon Marketing Phils. Inc. supported the Earth Hour 08 project last March 29, 2008.  The whole country was asked to turn off their lights for one hour to conserve energy, educate and minimize the effects of global warming.  This is just one of the ways Canon is striving to become a more environment-friendly company.

Canon’s participation includes turning off the Neon Signage on South Superhighway one hour and an employee volunteerism effort to get as many persons to pledge that their lights at home will be turned off from 8:00pm to 9:00pm on March 29.
